VOIP PBX Systems And How They Work
What is VOIP PBX? Many people tend to ask that question, and many people tend to misinterpret the work of the IP PBX systems. PBX stands for Private Brach Exchange. This is a replacement of the traditional PBX or the traditional phone system. It allows employees to have an extension number and enables them to conference, transfer and dial other colleagues. In IP PBX, all calls are sent through data packets over a data network unlike the traditional phone network. What is more interesting, with the use of the VOIP gateway one can be able to connect all the existing phone lines to the VOIP PBX to receive, make and transfer phone calls through the regular PSTN line.

This first VOIP product works in a very simplified manner. The VOIP PBX consists of one or more VOIP products like the SIP phones and a VOIP PBX server, and one can also opt for a VOIP gateway.

The VOIP gateway is usually there to connect the existing PSTN lines. The VOIP PBX’s function is similar to a proxy server. Together with those VOIP products, the SIP clients who are normally in two categories, either soft phones or hardware based phones have to register with the VOIP PBX server, and when they want to make a call, they request the VOIP PBX to establish the connection of the call. Note that the VOIP PBX has a directory of all phones or all users and the phone number’s SIP addresses. This therefore enables it to connect to an internal call or even route an outgoing call through other VOIP products like the VOIP gateway or a VOIP server provider.

There are many benefits of integrating IP PBX and other VOIP products in your system. It is easier to install and to configure; it is web based therefore it makes it easier for you to access and manage and configure the interface as you would like; and it doesn’t require separate phone wiring therefore helping you cut costs. As easier as it is to install, it is easier to use because it allows users to plug their phone anywhere in the office, and of course it allows easy roaming thanks to the great VOIP products available on the market like the SIP protocol and its characteristics.

The VOIP products like the SIP standard eliminate expensive phones and proprietary. Every business dreams of growing and it is imperative to have a VOIP product and service that grows with you. With the IP PBX system, it is easy to grow. It is so scalable, because one can have a standard computer that handles a large number of telephone lines and phone extensions. All you need is just to add more phones to the network, and from there you can grow and expand. Like all VOIP products, the SIP phone is very easy to use. Therefore there is better phone usage leading to better customer care services like transferring, conferencing and forwarding calls.
